Challenge - Week Four

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

"A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons" says Phil Keoghan. In Reality Scrap, when you see this sign you will be given a choice of two tasks. One is a difficult challenge that will take additional time and effort to complete well. The second is an easy task that will be quick to complete however only a maximum of 7 points will be available instead of the usual 10.

Week 4 Challenge - Sara (DETOUR)

PINK MARTINI

The Reality Scrap Survival Kit contains two Pink Martini papers. These are the preferred papers for this challenge.

Requirements: ABC-123 (Challenge inspired by Nancy Kupec, USA)

EASY OPTION
The following are your required inclusions. You may also add other items to the layout, but are restricted to the clauses below (meaning that if it says two patterned papers, you may only use two patterned papers, for example).

* A - Adults, topic of layout must be concerning adults - siblings, parents, friends, etc (NOT children, animals, etc)
* B - Bling, use some bling on your layout - gems, rhinestones, glitter, etc (unlimited amount, it just has to be there)
* C - Chipboard, use THREE (3) pieces only
* 1 - ONE Photo, any size
* 2 - TWO Patterned papers, preferably from the Pink Martini Range.
* 3 - THREE x 6" lengths of ribbon (hint: they do not have to remain in three lengths, you may cut them, but ALL pieces have to be on the layout; they do not have to be from the kit)

DIFFICULT OPTION
* ABC-123 as above PLUS...
* Go "Freestyle" - Make it artsy, lots of doodling and interesting journaling style.
* Add some random machine stitching.
* Finally, NO paper or photograph can be 'square on' on the page. 'Square on' meaning parallel to the edges of the layout.

Hello, is anybody there??
I'm sooo sad, nobody to talk to and nothing to look at.
I am guessing you won't upload the LO's until everyone has emailed there entries.
Oh well will check back later!!

Unknown said...

Yeah Kezzie, you don't realise how much a part of our daily lives that checking the forum and gallery has become. Poor ladies, I feel for you with all the dramas going on lately.

Trudi Harrison said...

Hi Kezzie, I'm missing all my SBC friends as well. I even missed out on playing with you all in FNG because the RS email containing the new blog connection didn't come through to my email address until the next day!!! (sniff, sniff) SO I was there but no one could see me or hear me!!!

This must be soooo frustrating for everyone behind the scenes, especially for Alicia and Sara. Thank you so much for all your efforts. We know it circumstances beyond your control. I tell you there a weird things happening in computer land and cyber space at the moment......

KerrynF said...

Isn't it funny, before January I didn't know this world exsisted. Now I can't live without it!! A credit to everyone, I really miss it :(
Alicia and Sara, you girls are truely amazing, it must be extremely annoying having to work with what is happening, but we will be here waiting for you :)

Alicia Barry said...

Everyone has done amazing kayouts yet again. I want to vote 4 times this week. Hmmm, I'm half in charge...maybe I will! You are all very sweet too. I'm sure we will all be back together again soon.

I agree the layouts are just getting better every week, so hard to pick just one.
Well done everyone and especially the intruders, great work for you first week in!
Good luck everyone...

Sarah said...

I've just arrived back home from a weekend camping trip and can I jsut say I have absolutely no idea who I am going to vote for this week - ALL of the LOs are amazing! wow! well done!

KerrynF said...

I have to admit I am not a big fan of this range of papers, but in saying that, I am blown away with what you girls have done with them.
I even love my own LO!!
Everyones LO's are just amazing, well done!
Doesn't make voting any easier. Good Luck to all, I think the results will be very close this week.

So many good Layouts and to have to choose one.
enney meeny miney mo.
all the names in a hat go.
LMAO
Well done ladys the Los are wonderful.
I must say that Paper was hard to work with I like it but I had to try and find the correct photo for it.
It took me 5 takes before I entered the finished product.
Good Luck every body!

Sara Pearcy said...

I have to say I LOVE Pink Martini papers and I LOVE the layouts everyone has produced! Just gorgeous.

It isn't easy using papers that don't inspire you. You have all created beautiful layouts!

Angela said...

Well girls, yet again you have all done an amazing job of what I thought would be a really difficult challenge. It has been really cool to see some 'styles' emerging too! Very inspiring stuff!

Michelle Lindenmayer said...

Beautiful job ladies, you continue to inspire and amaze me - you go to a higher level each week - keep it up!

Linda M said...

Hi everyone... It feels so lonely without the forum :( But we are so lucky to have our Super Cyber Chics (Sara, Alicia, etal...) always finding new ways of bringing us back together! You girls are AMAZING!

I'm just going crazy waiting for the results for this week. I'm dying to know if I've managed to keep my newly acquired spot in the team or if I've need to re-pack my stash and head back to the Others...

And I'm itching to find out about the next challenge.

Any clues???

Sarah said...

Linda - your LO was excellent!!! I emailed Alicia & Sara and they're expecting the forum to be back up today ... so we're waiting for that! It's killing me too ... should go do some housework or something!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Congratulations to everyone for absolutely fabo LO's this week. Whatever the result is going to be, everyone should be proud of what they have achieved.

Now for the Waiting, waiting, waiting.......

Hellllloooooooo, can anybody hear me!!!
I too am very lonely, sitting here not knowing what to do with myself. Well no, I could be doing housework, but I have been doing that the last couple of days.
I am getting quite desperate now, no really, this is not a laughing matter, well yes it is, but that is not the point!!
Can you tell I am going NUTS!!!
Is there any updates?, as my DS would say "Whats goin on".

Sarah said...

okay ... I've painted 3 windows since my last post, caught up on everyone's blogs ... and checked the website a million times!!! LOL!! Patience is not a virtue I posses ... just ask my children!!

KerrynF said...

Patience is definately not one of my better qualities either Sarah, I have been out most of the day and thought all would have been revealed by now.
But alas it was not to be.....
I have put on a load of washing, started the dishes, DS is asleep and I keep checking in between as well.
OOOhhh the devastation of it all!! Is that dramatic or what. LOL

Trudi Harrison said...

Haven't you girls heard the saying 'Patience is a virtue....' yeah I know yadda, yadda, yadda!!!

Yep I'm with you Kezzie and Sarah, not one of my better attributes.

Brendy xx said...

I am going stir crazy too LOL. I really want to know what nexts weeks challenge is, its my day today to go to HN and get photos printed :(
Is there any indication on when we will have some news?

Reality Scrap @Scrapbook City said...

Waiting is hard, I know. The computer people are working hard and will, hopefully, have the rest of the site up by tonight.

Cross your fingers, everyone!!

Linda M said...

The waiting really is exhausting stuff... In between checking for updates I flopped down on the bed (in despair) and "ZZZZZZZZZ" I was out like a light. I couldn't believe how long I slept!!! Fortunately I woke up in the nick of time to pick up dd from Kindy. Phew...

At least now that she is home from Kindy I have someone to play with :)

xx

KerrynF said...

Is there any chance the challenge can be posted on this site or sent via email to everyone???
Cause I'm going a little crazy here

Reality Scrap @Scrapbook City said...

Um.... the challenge is securely locked away in the forum. We've received word that if it isn't back tonight, it will be back tomorrow.

Thanks again for your patience.

Lauren said...

LO are all amazing!!! Trudi I didn't relise that there was a FNG site lol!!

Great job girls the comp's getting harder and harder.

Sarah said...

I'm probably risking the wrath of Sara & Alicia asking this ... buuuut, is there any chance of the results being posted on the blog???? I can wait until tomorrow forthe challenge (I hope :) ) I just neeeeeeeeeeeeeed to know the results for the week? pleeeeeeeeease? with sugar on top?!!!!!!! chocolate? wine? anything you want!!!! :)

Now, dare I press "publish your comment" ..... :)

Linda M said...

Ooohhh, Sarah... You're sooooo brave!!! But thank you for asking... You did exactly what we all wanted to do but were too scared to ask ;> xx

KerrynF said...

Pleeeeaassseeeeeee.................Give us something, anything!!!
Maybe a clue or even just the total points score for everyone.
You could tell us what PP we will be using, who the challenge will be from or just how many photos we will require.
I am down on my knees now and I am sure the other girls have joined me, just a little snippet of what ever you have. I will contribute to any bribe put forward.
By the way have we said how much we appreciate you girls !!!!:)

Linda M said...

And how gorgeous you are...

Brendy xx said...

You girls are cracking ME up! I cant believe we are all so worked up about these challenges LOL
Poor Alicia and Sara must be pulling thier hair out by now, with the problems with the site!!!

KerrynF said...

I know we are probably not helping things, BUT we are desperate women here!! As for me, I have NO life outside of DH and DS, this was bringing me alive, I neeeeed something, even if we all just keep chatting and making people laugh at the crazy antics. At least that will help pass the time in some small way.

Brendy xx said...

I have been working on a CJ so this has kept me occupied and tomorrow I am having my full scrap day with friends so would like to work on my challenge.
I noticed the online shop is up so hopefully the rest of the site wont be long now :)

Sue's Blog said...

Kezzie you are cracking me up with your comments!!

Trudi Harrison said...

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that the site is back up tonight.

Here's food for thought.....Maybe there is a reason why they have hung us out so long.......(apart from the technical difficulties that is.)

KerrynF said...

Trudi OMG, I was just saying the exact think to DH!!
How freaky is that.
I was a little suspicious when they said this week's challenge was locked away in the forum and they couldn't get to it. Surely someone remembers what it is. Something a little strange here maybe!! Or maybe we have really lost the plot and becoming totally paranoid, either way we need help.

Trudi Harrison said...

Kezzie, someone obviously has access to the site to be able to post the challenge and then lock it away!! Maybe they have forgotten where they have put the key!! (HeeHee)

OMG I think that I have been watching way to much reality TV. It's making me sound paranoid.

I'll let you in on a little secret Kezzie, I've needed help for a very long time now- lol!!!! way before this RS thing ever started.

Trudi Harrison said...

Hey, how do I get a picture of myself next to my name. Remember I'm the techno dumbo; I've only just worked out how to get a google account so I could post on the blog site

KerrynF said...

Click on your name Trudi and your profile should come up, then go down to edit profile. There should be a spot for pasting photo pathway. I had mine stored in photobucket so I could just copy and paste it. I hope that helps a little bit.

Trudi Harrison said...

Thanks for that Kezzie

KerrynF said...

Wow see I have learnt something!
Nice to see your face, I have missed it!

Trudi Harrison said...

Hmmmm... more food for thought..... They didn't call this week 'Detour' for nothing!!!

Also been thinking that maybe we should rename it as a 'Roadblock' for the results that are not appearing (heehee)

KerrynF said...

Do you remember on Friday when they realised the forum was down and the challenge was posted here. I am sure Sara said the wording wasn't exact. But now it is!!!Where did they get that from.... Hah Hah.......
Something very strange happening LOL, boy we can really stretch our imaginations or are we onto something!!!

Linda M said...

Hi Kezzie,
The wording for this week was courtesy of Me! I emailed through the wording to Sara so that she could post it for all to see :)
xx

KerrynF said...

Oh well, I thought I was on to something, now I will have to think of something else to keep me amused!!
Where is everybody, probably got a life I guess...I decided not to do my calligraphy classes for a couple of weeks to give me an extra night for the challenge, might have to work on BOM tonight once DS goes to bed!!!

Reality Scrap @Scrapbook City said...

rofl - you are cracking me up.... lifting me from the haze of computer problems!!

I seriously meant it when I said it is all in the forum. The challenges have been set for months and live in the forum - who knew it would go down?! Crazy stuff.

I have all my bits crossed that we'll be back on the boards tomorrow. I know you are all champing at the bit. Alicia and Sara thank you for not inundating us with emails.

You are all fantastic!!

Unknown said...

OMG you girls are such a giggle! I've just got back from work - I can't check blogs there (stupid EQ has all blog sites blocked), so I've had to wait till now to check.

Angela said...

Lol Girls! I wondered where all the action was...

Unknown said...

Ah still no word!

Debbie said...

Hi Girls

Well as hard as this is for us think how much hair Sara and Alicia have lost over this. I check a couple well maybe lots more than a couple of times a day if the city is back on line. Are we going to get the new challange here or be told who won the last one. Just wondered

KerrynF said...

I hope we are back soon, I am not very good scrapping with time constraints. Maybe that is all part of the next challenge????
I think they were hoping to be back on today, just not sure when today or how much longer I can survive with out it!!!
DS is happy for me to sit on the puter chatting, but not happy if I try to sit at the table scrapping. So I really have nowhere else to go but sit here and wait and check and wait and did I say check!!! Sending me crazy, incase you haven't noticed!!! LOL

Sarah said...

Debbie - the new challenge is "locked" away in the forum ... there's been no word about us being told who won the last challenge ................. I really really hope we get something today ...

Trudi Harrison said...

Hmmmmmmm, no comment.........

KerrynF said...

Do you think we will be able to apply for an extension like they do at UNI to complete the challenge. I know, they could give us this week and next week's challenges for us to complete be Saturday the 17th. When we vote we just select one from each challenge!! Is anyone with me here!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Kezzie, I'm sure that they have this covered. It's probably all part of the game and will come up with something that is a twist or a turn. You know how it goes in the unreal world or 'reality TV'

KerrynF said...

OK, I'm getting desperate now, maybe half of us have no access to the site and the other half still do. Could that be possible???
I know they say no news is good news, BUT please I need something.

Trudi Harrison said...

O.K. Kezzie, I'm going to help you get through this. LOL!!! I want you to take 3 deep breathes and repeat after me "it will be alright, everything will be alright......."

Be reassured that no one can log into the site Kezzie, everyone is experiencing the same issues.....

niss said...

heellllooo, any body there, i have just read all these comments and am loving the conspirace theories! i need information, is the challenge somewhere i dont know about, has anybody recieved "tree mail" that i haven't, am i the weekest link!! or maybe i am the mole and don't know it!~!! help me

KerrynF said...

Thanks Trudi, that has really helped me.
Master Harrison is doing some painting at the kitchen table and likes his independence "Mummy I do it!!!".
So, I am just sitting here thinking of all possible scenarios.
Sad really, I could be in DS big room, his bed arrives tomorrow, sorting things out.

Trudi Harrison said...

Howdy Niss!!! My new theory for the day is that both Sara and Alicia are locked in the forum and they have lost the key and can't get out. Our mission should we choose to accept is to find the key and let them out !!!! (heehee)

KerrynF said...

No Niss, we are all in that same boat!! Going very crazy I might add.

niss said...

maybe there is no key!! and we have lost them forever or maybe they don't want to get out!!hhhmmm something to think about!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Do you think we should find the key and let them out after everything they are putting us through?.....

niss said...

aaahhh... now that is a thought!! maybe we could give them a challenge to get out, and see how they like it!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Hmmmm, I like how the girl thinks!!!!

Maybe THIS is the challenge this week - not telling us and the weakest link is the person who loses it completely and is told 'bye bye, your the weakest link, time to go to the others!!!'

niss said...

how about they have to do a LO on how they feel about the site problems, only using what is at arms reach at this very moment, no photo, and 3 pieces of chip board!! they have 15 minutes to do it or they will self destruct in 5 seconds!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Love it Niss, you soooo crack me up. Let's go with that one. Now where do we post it so they can find it?

KerrynF said...

Now that is soooo funny, but entirely possible!!!
Must retain sanity.......keep mental status in check, OK of to tidy DS new room, wiil check back soon..................

niss said...

how about "Australia post", it may get there quicker!!

Trudi Harrison said...

Brilliant thinking, normally 'snail mail'is slow but I think in this case it would still get there quicker. Maybe Fed Express for Alicia cause she's OS but then by ship may be o.k too

niss said...

too true but you remember what happened to Fed Ex in that movie with tom hanks!!! ended up stuck on an island with nobody to talk to and nothing to do...wait!! OMG dejaview!!!

Linda M said...

There are 2 pigeons outside my window that I could probably ask to deliver the messages... and maybe I could send my dd's imaginary trick performing stunt guinea pig in to my computer with a key to try to let them out (just in case the pigeons get easten by a nasty cat... Yep, I've lost the plot too ;> xx

Trudi Harrison said...

Don't you remember Wilson? they would have him to talk too; even if he is only a basketball.

Linda M said...

... maybe we could use Wilson to distract the nasty Cat so the pigeons can stay safe...

niss said...

oh sorry what was i thinking of course he had wilson!!! we would have to make sure there were no balls of ANY kind!! or maybe they could have marbles!!! because i know i am losing mine!!!!!!!!!!

niss said...

do you think a pigeon would work!!
shoul it be a homing pigeon so they can reply!! or maybe owl mail, they are pretty intelegent, after all they use them at hogwarts

Linda M said...

and a gopher for good measuree ;>

Trudi Harrison said...

Hmmm Marbles lost mine years ago!!!

would love to sit here and conspire but I have to go and do mummy things, i'll check in later

Linda M said...

me too... pigeons flew away when I opened the window... v.v.sad :(

Brendy xx said...

Yes girls I have decided that you are all going stir crazy LOL....
Maybe we could set our own challenge and do a layout.
I am actually working on a CJ.. so that is keeping me busy:)

niss said...

brendy can you set me a challenge!!
i will do it and email it to you!! Please>>>>>xxxxx

Brendy xx said...

Ok Niss
3 or more photos
Stamping for your title
Monochromatic
and I wont give you any NO options so use as many embellishments as you like.
I will do one too ok and when the site is up we can load them there!
I will gather a little pressie the winner!
Anyone else interested?

niss said...

cool starting now!!

niss said...

when you say monochromatic, is it just one colour or can i use different shades of that colour

Brendy xx said...

Yes one colour say green and everything in different shades of green and you can also use a little black or white!

niss said...

COOOL!

Trudi Harrison said...

Brendy, I am going to risk sounding very stupid but what on earth is this 'cj' thing you are working on????

Would love to take up your LO challenge but would you believe that I don't have a alphabet stamp set so don't know how I would go with the title thing......

Sarah said...

ok, I've been out grocery shopping, came back and saw there were 80 something comments and thought "yay!!! we've finally got results, and even better, probably a challenge too"

alas .... it's just a couple of crazies who've lost their marbles!!

Trudi - a 'cj' is a circle journal - a bunch of people sign up to do a journal, you provide the book, scrap the cover and a sign in page with directions of what theme you want your journal to be, then you send it 'round to each person in your group and they scrap a page to fit in with your theme. does that make sense?

oh crap, there's a yoghurt disaster on my living room floor ... thank goodness for floor boards.

Trudi Harrison said...

Be very careful Miss Sarah who you call 'crazy' we are all feeling a bit sensitive at the moment (LOL!!) I have a couple emails on my PC from a certain someone who could also join us in the crazy catergory (hahaha)

Thanks for the definition of the cj thing, would never have guessed that it was a circle journal.

Mmmmm yoghurt disaster, had one of those as well today. DD decided to finger paint the dog with hers, obviously she didn't like it and thought the dog might like it better

Sue's Blog said...

Hey Trudi how is your dd from Friday when you had to leave and pick her up? My theory is we have all been shipwrecked on an island and we have no computer contact. How long was Gilligan shipwrecked for??

Sarah said...

Trudi - I don't know who you could possibly be referring to!!! :)

ok, I've just been very naughty and have just spent $220 on line (no, not on scrapping stuff) so I absolutely HAVE to go and do housework so I don't get served divorce papers when DH gets home ... !!

KerrynF said...

I just checked the site again and a different message is coming up now, instead of saying 'critical error' it is saying I do not have access to this board.
Maybe they are getting close??

Brendy xx said...

Um trying to think how to make a stamp... have your ever tried making them out of a sponge. I know someone who did once and it works. Just like a dish cloth sponge, if you have chip board you could use this for a stencil.
Yes I have started a Circle Journal with a close set of friends. My first one so I will see how this goes!

Brendy xx said...

OH Sarah what have you been buying?

NOT ebay is it? I banned myself from there!

Trudi Harrison said...

Sue, Thanks for asking about dd. I did leave a message in the on line message room after I had picked dd up. But hey, the site has crashed so I guess you didn't find it!!! Because she is nearly 2 1/2 they have decided to start with the transition from 'babies/toddler' room to 'big room' so Friday was her first time in big room. She had an accident on some outdoor climbing equipment. She's o.k but was very upset. I think it was more her confidence and ego that took a bruising, though she had a couple of scratches and bruises to show for her 'little adventure'.

In regards to Gilligan's island, wasn't the show axed before they were found? What's that say about us.....

Trudi Harrison said...

Hey Kerryn, I just found that message as well when I logged on the site. I reckon they're going backwards instead of forwards!!!!

Brendy, I'm thinking about my stamp issue - I reckon that can be everyone's challenge for the week, stamping a title without alphabet stamps, yeah I like it!!!
... I have also banned myself from ebay, terrible, terrible place to go shopping

Debbie said...

Hi girls

Its not getting any better when are we going to have a site back.
Yes they finished gilligans Island before they were rescued so does that mean itso over for us we are stranded here on this blog spot. LOL or is there a sinistar plan. Hmmmmm the mind boggles.....

Reality Scrap @Scrapbook City said...

Hang tight, girls. Relief is coming.

Trudi, I loved your Weakest Link comment..."Maybe THIS is the challenge this week - not telling us and the weakest link is the person who loses it completely and is told 'bye bye, your the weakest link, time to go to the others!!!'"

Sara.
